Welcome to the Sprout
You've found a little corner of the internet that believes the world could use a bit more colour.
I believe that beige has its place, buy MAYBE it simply shouldn't be left to do all the heavy lifting.
Somewhere along the way, our homes became a little... predictable. Safe choices took over. White walls. Grey sofas. Beige cushions. It's all perfectly lovely, but sometimes it feels as though we've forgotten how colourful the world really is.
If we step outside and just for a second, look at all the beauty nature has given us. Nature has never worried about whether magenta goes with emerald green. It simply gets on with being spectacular.
That's the spirit behind The Sprout. This isn't a blog or a style guide.
It's a growing collection of ideas, questions and colourful observations about our homes, creativity and the natural world. Sometimes I'll answer decorating questions. Sometimes I'll explore why colour makes us feel the way it does. Other times we'll simply celebrate a flower that refused to be ordinary.
I’m not here to tell you to repaint your living room bright orange. I’m here to show you that adding one piece of art, one splash of colour or one botanical print can completely change how you feel when entering a room. Think of the white walls of a hospital or the first day of Spring after a long harsh winter. How did they make you feel?
I believe homes should have more colour but adding colour doesn't have to mean replacing all your furniture. Sometimes one carefully chosen piece of art is enough to change how a room feels.
So whether you've arrived looking for decorating advice, wall art ideas or you're simply curious about why flowers are so much better at colour than us, welcome.
I’m happy you're here. :)
