Where to Buy Stylish Wall Art Without Overspending?
You don't need to spend a fortune to find wall art you'll love. Some of the most interesting pieces come from independent artists who create original work at affordable prices. A good piece of advice is to choose art that makes you smile every time you walk into the room.
Where do you find beautiful wall art without spending hundreds of pounds?
The internet gives us endless choices, but after a while many of them start to look the same. The same colours. The same styles. The same artwork appearing in shop after shop. Your will find the same black swirls on beige canvas from galleries to Etsy to Primark. Do I like them? Yes! But seeing them everywhere is a bit tiring.
There is so much colour in the world, texture and detail around us, that I don’t understand the trend of making our homes more…for lack of a better word…bland?
I'm no holder of the truth but I can try to help you find the art you are looking for.
Start with independent artists
One of the best places to find interesting artwork is directly from independent artists. You're much more likely to discover something original, and you're supporting directly the person who created it, no middle men.
If you don’t mind, let me make my case for botanical artwork. I photograph flowers, plants and nature because they never stop surprising me. My hope is that the same sense of wonder finds its way into people's homes, bringing with it some of the joy I feel when I'm taking the photographs and creating the artwork.
That's why I think it's worth choosing artwork that you genuinely connect with rather than something that's simply fashionable.
When choosing art, I always come back to one question.
Does this make me happy?
If the answer is yes, that's usually enough. Expensive doesn't always mean better. Sometimes you're paying for a name.
Sometimes you're paying for marketing. I'd rather spend my money on artwork that I enjoy looking at every day than on something that comes with an impressive price tag.
Let your home reflect you
I don't think our homes should all look the same. Some people love calm, neutral spaces. Others enjoy bold colours and rooms full of personality. Neither is right or wrong. The important thing is that when you walk through your front door, your home feels like yours.
For me, that means bringing a little of nature indoors. A colourful botanical print can completely change the feeling of a room without changing everything else around it.
There are plenty of places to buy wall art, from galleries to online marketplaces and independent artists. My advice is simple: don't start with the price. Start with the feeling.
If a piece of art makes you pause, smile or look at it for just a second longer, it's probably worth remembering.
And if you'd like to explore my collection of botanical photography, I'd love to show you around.
A Little Sprout 🌱
Finding artwork you love is the easy part. The next question is deciding where it should go. Because the same print can feel completely different depending on where you hang it.
